More than 130 fires were handled by emergency services over the weekend as the Department of Fire and Emergency Services prepares for a very dangerous bushfire season.

Firefighters from the Eastern States have been brought over to help cover the immense areas threatened by fire; this weekend saw large and at times uncontrolled fires shut down parts of Albany Highway and Kwinana Freeway.
