The Irish government has announced that it will allow an unlimited number of Ukrainian refugees to enter the country and that accommodating them will cost the taxpayer as much as €3 billion. Ireland cannot sustain this. Why then, would the government do it? And, why does the Irish media denounce those who question the sanity of such a policy as xenophobes? Why are Irish police officers accusing people who ask legitimate questions of peddling hate speech?
