We call it "training" for a reason and we should be "practicing" in a way that sets us up for a better race. That can mean getting out into the heat and wind more often, or visualizing your race at certain points of your workouts. How will you respond when you get hot or feel underfueled? Outside training with heat and wind and distractions and people and cars and whatever can also lead to a higher anxiety level.
