The prophet was led to feel his own uncleanness, and the uncleanness of those among whom he dwelt. When was that? For it is important for us to feel the same conviction,and we may do so by the same means. Was it when he had been looking into his own heart, and seeing its dire deceitfulness, and the black streams of actual transgression which welled up from thatinward fountain of depravity? He might certainly have said, "Woe is me!" if he had been looking there; but he was not doing so on this occasion.
