It takes a lot of money to buy a sports team. Sure, owners have a lot of money - mostly from business dealings - but where does that money come from? What’s keeping those businesses afloat? Henry Abbott manages the website True Hoop, and he’s been following money in pro sports for years, so it was no surprise to him that when sanctions started coming down on Russian elites in the aftermath of the Ukraine invasion, some of that money was tied up in pro sports.
