Judges are a critical part of a system designed to provide accountability and justice. But what happens when a judge needs to be held accountable? What happens when harassment or discrimination takes place inside the judicial system? These are important questions that in some cases don't really have satisfying answers, but there is legislation proposed that would help hold federal judges accountable and provide workplace protections for employees within the judiciary. Aliza Shatzman is an attorney and an advocate for the proposed Judicial Accountability Act. We asked Shatzman about the legislation and about her own very personal story of harassment and discrimination as a law clerk.
