Ultra Running is a form of long distance running that requires a tough mindset. Learning to shift your focus from pain to strength is key.

My guest on this podcast went from not liking running to running several 100 mile ultras, lots of 50 milers, and several adventure races.

Jack Sayles, a.k.a Poncho Blanco, is a middle school science teacher who started running in 2012 after encouragement from his wife, as she wanted them to have a sport to share together.

In this episode, Jack and I chat about his journey become an ultra runner.

More than that, Jack shares his thoughts on life and ultra running, including:

  • It's okay to walk
  • 90% of the battle is in your head
  • You are capable
  • Accept what is and keep going
  • If you can run a mile, you can run 100 miles
  • How to become centered and grounded
