We have a great show today, Jon Witt from Deck Protect Inc discuss his humble beginnings from trade schooling with horticulture technician, hardscaping, followed by a few different trade jobs ultimately falling into decking and fencing just as the recession and family were growing adding to so much stress, isn’t that always the case, hard times makes hard trades. Let’s get talking all kinds of decking products, maintaining those decking products and understanding you truly are making an extension of your home.
History with Manny note, the Atlantic Boardwalk deck, the first deck ever built was built in June 1870.
Jon something very interesting, he walks the listeners through real wood decking and why boards are not all the same and what parts of the tree they come from, it matters and well worth learning. Jon walks the listerners through all of the stains and oils he has used, good and bad, all the types of decking he has worked with, good and bad and always back to wood.
Jon and Manny discuss Thermory products and make the comparrisons to other materials and even other thermally modified products. So many options out there. The decking industry ahs dramatically changed in the last ten years and Jon shares his thoughts. The conversation turns to curves and comparing composites and wood limitations and what can we really do with either.
