Ice cream may seem like a ubiquitous summer treat of modern times, but its history — and the history of frozen desserts — actually dates back thousands of years. From ancient Chinese dynasties and Roman Emperor Nero, to French and British confectioners, all the way through to George Washington and WWII, ice cream and frozen desserts have played a major role in class and morale of the people.  Today, the ice cream industry is worth over $21 billion in the US alone.
