The process of direct legislation in California – the ballot measures and referenda that we see on the ballot time and time again – have become a really big deal in the state. We see a change in the level of spending and the consequences of ballot measure politics in the last several election cycles, including back in 2020 and in the most recent election of 2022. Activity around ballot measures and direct legislation is picking up as we head to the 2024 ballot.
