Christopher Wong is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and has been training for over 20 years, during which time he’s competed as a member of the Malaysian National Team at the World Kendo Championships from 2000 (USA) - 2018 (Korea). Christopher currently holds the rank of 6-Dan Kendo.
In this wide-ranging conversation, we talk about his initial discovery of kendo at a relatively older age, and how his prior sports experience in sports and dedication to practice helped him become national champion. We talk about his experiences representing Malaysia at multiple World Championships and the lessons and relationships he’s gained from participating.
