The haemolytic screen comprises of a range of pathological tests to investigate causes of haemolytic anaemia. Yet, the interpretation and application of the haemolytic screen, as well as determining the acuity of the haemolytic anaemia may not always be straightforward. With an endless list of causes for haemolysis, identifying haemolytic anaemia can be particularly difficult, especially for junior doctors covering after hours. However, with detailed history taking, focussed examination and diligent evaluation of investigations, conquering haemolysis may not be as hard as you think!
