In fall 2012, Wolfram noticed a growing pimple on his right cheek. He saw his dermatologist who treated it with antibiotics and steroid injections. When the pimple continued to grow, a biopsy led to a diagnosis of angiosarcoma. Wolfram’s cancer treatment includes chemotherapy, surgery (which took the right half of his face), radiation, another surgery following a recurrence that took the left half of his face, immunotherapy He’s had , facial reconstructive surgery to allow him to eat, speak, and be seen in public, and has been part in a clinical trial. He remains in treatment, wrote a book about his experiences and was featured in a documentary. Dr. Andrew Wagner is medical director of ambulatory oncology and a senior physician in the Sarcoma Center at Dana-Farber, and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Wagner earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago, completed his residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
