The Shire of Kalumunda has controversially backtracked on it's urban bushland policy just a year after it was implemented, with councilors claiming it was creating dangerous conditions.

The shire was one of many to adopt new recommended laws that would prevent property owners from freely removing trees; part of an effort to improve Perth's almost-barren urban canopy cover.
