He's a Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation at Teesside University in the United Kingdom. He has earned both a Masters in Physiotherapy and a PhD, where he explored the relationship between physical activity and chronic lower back pain. Ryan has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and it has obtained over $1 million in research funding. His research interests are primarily in the era of chronic pain and its impact on patients and developing new interventions to help patients better manage their condition.
