The "Your Story" Series
In this week’s episode we are honored to hear from Kylie Mitchell, a non-diet dietitian over @immaeatthat who helps make eating and being in your body less complicated. In this episode we discuss one of the big misconceptions that we hear about intuitive eating and body acceptance, which is that intuitive eating means you can eat whatever you want and not care about your body. The reason why this myth pops up is because it seems to be the opposite of diet culture messaging, when really intuitive eating is all about self care, body attunement and the nuanced pieces of gentle nutrition and joyful movement.
We define self-care as a whole body experience that includes honoring your physical, emotional, and mental needs. This means that sometimes your body wants veggies and sometimes it just wants ice cream, sometimes your body craves movement in a variety of ways, and sometimes it craves rest to heal and recuperate - and all are great options for self care.
As you listen to Kylie’s story, and as you navigate healing your body, try to keep this reflection prompt in mind: how do I learn to take care of my body and listen to it so I can feel truly at home in it?
