A Newark, New Jersey, high school principal, Akbar Cook first gave the kids a way to wash their clothes. Now he's given them a safe place to hang out on weeknights. He introduced “Lights On,” a recreational program that keeps kids off the street from 6 p.m. to midnight on Fridays during the school year and with the help of others he is expanding the program.
1010 WINS honors Akbar Cook as our difference maker.
