California is in the midst of a dire drought, but most people here are not paying much attention to it and not doing their part to conserve water. For whatever reason, Californians seem to be shrugging off the demand from officials that they use less water, and in some parts of the state, they’re actually using more water.

Dr. Gleick is a renowned expert on water and climate issues, winner of a MacArthur “Genius” fellowship, and received both his Masters and his PhD from UC Berkeley.
