Former president Donald Trump returned to X today, with a flurry of tweets and a planned sit-down interview with its owner, Elon Musk.
Trump posted a series of videos attacking Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who continues to lead him in many polls, both nationally and in key swing state surveys. Vice President Harris wrapped up her whirlwind, weeklong introduction of her running mate, Governor Tim Walz, with a fundraiser in San Francisco yesterday attended by most of California’s top Democratic leaders. Now she’s taking a break from the campaign trail, with just one public event scheduled, a joint appearance in Maryland on Thursday to talk about the economy. At the end of the week she will head to Chicago to get ready for the Democratic National Convention.
For more on the state of the presidential race, the first one in history with a California Democrat at the top of the ticket, KCBS Insider Doug Sovern and KCBS Radio anchor Bret Burkhart were joined by longtime California Republican political strategist Mike Madrid, who was one of the founders of the anti-Trump Lincoln Project. He is also the author of the recently published book, “The Latino Century: How America’s Largest Minority is Transforming Democracy.”
This is The State of California.
