Robards and Ferreira are just two of the many people hoping to positively impact the lives of kids. They believe soccer games can happen anywhere there’s a ball.
Play Where You Stay is a developmental soccer program for kids in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. This Memphis-based organization connects soccer coaches and equipment with children and open space. In order maximize available space and funding, they identify disused lots or park space within neighborhoods and set up weekday afternoons.
It costs $10/week for as much coaching and as many days as kids want. That means he or she can come up to 5 days a week. Enrollment is rolling, which means players can sign up to join whenever their schedule allows. No one is turned away who can’t pay.
Ellen and Bernardo talk about the early growth of the program. It is expanding to many more fields. Despite its short history, the organization has already witnessed stories of team and personal triumphs. Because of its rapid growth, donations of time, equipment and money are needed.
