She is the Communication Manager at the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota, an Outdoor Writer, and a Conservationist. She is also on the board of many organizations, including the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA).

Ashley has spent time at Americorp, the State of Minnesota, Dept. of Natural Resources, The National Audubon Society, Audubon Minnesota, and the Ruffled Grouse Society.
