This 1980 horror/drama film tells the story of a family isolated in a hotel for the winter where the father is employed as the off-season caretaker. The son sees foreboding visions of past and future, and a sinister presence influences the father into madness and violence. We discuss pacing, audio, missing topiaries, children who are cunning under pressure, and a line so bafflingly out of place it became the title of the episode. We’re talking movies adapted from Stephen King stories this month. We started off with Gerald’s Game and last week discussed the Tim Curry version of IT from 1990.
