In John 13 Jesus washes the disciples' feet. This was an extraordinary breach of cultural protocol, and an awkward and even embarrassing experience for the disciples. But Jesus delivered a very powerful teaching to his disciples on the heals of the foot washing ( pun intended!)

Jesus was teaching them, and us as pastors, that we are certainly not better than him, and that we should humbly serve one another .
