When are good intentions not good?
Today we talk about Toxic Positivity and how these seemingly innocuous platitudes can shut down a conversation. How they stand in the way of people getting help and being heard. Saying things like, "remember the glass is half full," or "you are being a baby; in my day, it was much harder," or "we've all been through this. You aren't special" can stop us from truly connecting especially when someone is going through a hardship or in distress.
