Jack broke his leg at summer camp in 2018. He had complained of some leg pain, but it was brushed aside as growing pains of a very active boy. It turns out it was osteosarcoma and his family of 5 uprooted and moved to Boston for 10 months for his treatment.
In April 2019, the family returned home until a small nodule was found in his lung the following winter. Jack came back to Boston for a month where he underwent lung surgeries.
He went back home to resume his active life of skiing and mountain biking, until April 2021 another nodule was found in his lungs.
He is now in Boston again receiving care at the Jimmy Fund Clinic where his treatment includes lung surgery and ongoing chemotherapy. He also received a rotationplasty in 2018, a form of leg amputation.
Jack has two younger brothers. The family considers Boston their second home now due to the amazing family they have made at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. Jack's mom will be running the Boston Marathon for Dana-Farber in October.
Jack is throwing out the first pitch tonight.
