I take my podcast for walks because I don't have a dog. Take 10 minutes out of your day to walk in nature, and to pay attention to what’s directly in front of you. I'm trying to work out how to be happy in the world, despite everything.
Every day, I share my latest thinking and reading, whilst walking a local footpath round the corner from my Wimbledon flat. I pay attention to what's directly in front of me, which means the podcast contains lots of observations of the UK seasons as they ebb and flow from grey and mis to 'the most beautiful day in the world.'
We chart the rain index, we talk about how to be silly, and we make an effort to enjoy the day.
This is the anti-anti-penultimate episode of Series 22 of Walk the Pod, a daily walking show recorded since November 2020.
In this episode
It might be the last day of school at the Wimbledon Chase Primary School today. The kids are out in their own clothes, and there’s a general feeling of things winding down for Christmas. However, not at work, which seems to be ramping up, if anything! I am feeling a little stressed at the beginning of this recording.
I discuss entries in the Annales Cumbriae, an ancient record of life in Wales, which records 'Nothing Happened This Year' in a number of years, including 667 and 668 (in the podcast I say 669, but LOADS of things happened in 669! Lol) and wonder whether the same could be said of 2019, given everything that has happened in the years since.
I needed the walk today. Thank you for walking with me 🙂

Our discord community is lovely. Poddies from around the world meet in a small corner of the internet to post photographs of their daily walks from New Zealand, Spain, Ireland, and perhaps wherever you are if you'd like to join.
I am 1 subscriber away from my first Patreon milestone, which will allow me the time to plan and post daily Lens clips for the Patreon community (Lens is like Instagram stories for Patreon.) Have a look, and see if you'd like to join.
