For four years, starting in 2012, John was under active surveillance for elevated PSA levels. Biopsy and other tests confirmed a prostate cancer diagnosis. At the time of his diagnosis, John was Dana-Farber's Vice President of Finance. He has since retired.
Two years after his diagnosis, a second biopsy indicated faster progression. John underwent surgery to remove his prostate, but his cancer had spread. John’s treatment included hormone and radiation therapy, and active monitoring. John was in remission for a year when his PSA levels came back elevated, and his cancer returned. John underwent more treatment and active monitoring. John completed radiation last September.
