As you probably know, Bay Area transit systems, especially BART, are hemorrhaging money, and now State Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco has introduced a bill that would raise Bay Area bridge tolls for the next 5 years, to 9 dollars and 50 cents up from 8 dollars now

This will bring in almost a billion dollars to help rescue rapid transit. But the local delegation is split on whether this is a smart idea, and the bill’s passage is anything but assured. For more on this, KCBS Political Reporter Doug Sovern spoke with State Senator Steve Glazer, Democrat from Orinda, one of the lawmakers who is opposed to this legislation.
