As you probably know, Bay Area transit systems, especially BART, are hemorrhaging money, and now State Senator Scott Wiener of San Francisco has introduced a bill that would raise Bay Area bridge tolls for the next 5 years, to 9 dollars and 50 cents up from 8 dollars now
This will bring in almost a billion dollars to help rescue rapid transit. But the local delegation is split on whether this is a smart idea, and the bill’s passage is anything but assured.
