The investigation continues into the apparently accidental shooting death of the cinematographer on the set of an Alec Baldwin western. Evidence points to mistakes by the young woman in charge of prop weapons for the movie, but the tragedy is sparking calls for change in the film industry.
Many people are asking why prop guns need to be loaded at all, and why there would ever be live rounds on a movie set. Now, State Senator Dave Cortese of San Jose, a Democrat who chairs the Senate Labor Committee, says he will introduce legislation to try to keep this kind of deadly accident from ever happening again.
