John 3:1-15

1. The life of Jesus validates the claims of Jesus, v. 1-2

2. Jesus is focused on what matters, v. 3

3. This is a supernatural process, v. 4-12 

Three things to understand...

a) What does “born again” mean? 

b) What does it mean to be “born of the water and the Spirit?”

“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.  And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.  And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statues and be careful to obey my rules.” 
-Ezekiel 36:225-27

c) It is revealed by it’s effects.

Evidences of new birth:

-faith in Christ and in His gospel
-repentance from sin
-prayer
-possession of new life 
-new desires
-love for His people
-joy in worship
-hunger for His word
