Election Day is 9 weeks from today, so now it’s time for the traditional post-Labor Day sprint.
Early voting starts in just two weeks in some states, which is why the presidential campaign is really ramping up now.
Californians won’t start receiving ballots for another month, but voters in half a dozen states, including Virginia, Minnesota and Vermont, can start voting in mid-September. Labor Day is typically the launching point for the November general election, which is why Democrats Kamala Harris and Tim Walz hit so many battleground states over the last couple of days, and today the Harris campaign launched a reproductive rights bus tour which will crisscross the country from now until Election Day. Both Harris and Walz have events throughout this week, and tomorrow Kamala Harris will flesh out some of her economic platform with a speech in New Hampshire.
Oddly enough, former President Trump is not matching the Democrats’ schedule, he has very few events on tap, just one rally and that is not until Saturday, as well as a town hall tomorrow in Pennsylvania. JD Vance IS out campaigning and doing interviews, more than Trump is, but at the moment it’s the Democratic ticket with the momentum and they are trying to build on that.
