It was to stir up the Hebrews unto the more diligent laboring after living the life of faith that the apostle here pointed out the terrible alternative- unless they maintained a steady trust in God and an obedient submission unto His revealed will, they were in grave danger of backsliding and apostatizing. If any should -draw back- then God would have -no pleasure in him,- which is but the negative way of saying that he would be an object of abhorrence.
