Anne Gross, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN. Senior Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Dana-Farber
· Anne Gross, PhD, RN, is senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer. There are more than 700 registered nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical specialists, and nurse scientists working at all Dana-Farber locations.
· Anne can give insight into the growth of Dana-Farber's regional campuses that make receiving care easier and more convenient. For example, care is available now in Merrimack Valley, Foxborough and Chestnut Hill and the team reconfigured the Yawkey Center to accommodate current and future growth. This work is grounded in our commitment to safe,
high-quality patient care, interdisciplinary teamwork, and relationship-based care – a model
that has long distinguished us as leaders amongst our peers.
· This year Dana-Farber was the recipient of the Oncology Nursing Society Outstanding
Employer Award – recognizing one organization annually for the investment it makes in the
advancement of oncology nursing practice through research and evidence-based practice.
· Anne is also proud of the patient care services team which supports our patients with
both financial assistance and outreach programs and expanded services for patients who
English is not their first language. Volunteer services have now had a full year back with a full
volunteer ambassador program after being impacted by the COVID pandemic.
· Anne is touched by the stories she hears every day of the amazing work of our nurses
who often go over and beyond. Some examples include:
· An interdisciplinary team of staff at Merrimack Valley heard about a patient’s significant
milestone birthday and joined together to host a party complete with cake and balloons
· Dana-Farber’s Inpatient Hospital staff hosted a wedding for a patient and their
significant other complete with cake, decorations, and a service delivered by a DFCI chaplain
· Dana-Farber’s Inpatient Hospital celebrated a graduation for a patient’s child. The staff
decorated the room/door and the principal of the school came to the unit and presented the
graduate with a diploma so the patient could participate.
