WHEN ARE WE TO GIVE THANKS?

1. Give thanks for all the good that’s in your life

“Everything good comes from God. Everything perfect comes from Him.” James 1:17

“Give thanks to God, for He is good.” Psalm 107:1

2. Give thanks every time you eat

“God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people. “ 1 Timothy 4:3

3. Give thanks when you worship and in church

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with Praise.” Psalm 100:4

“Sing out your thanks to the Lord” Psalm 147:7

4. Give thanks when you think about the people you love

“I thank my God, every time I think of you!” Philippians 1:3

5. Give thanks every time you worry or are afraid

“When Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.” Daniel 6:10

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything” Philippians 4:6

Giving thanks BOTH when life is good AND when life is hard, is a sign of spiritual growth

GRATITUDE PRINCIPLES:

1. Worry and Gratitude Cannot Co-Exist

2. Gratitude is a big step on the pathway to peace

“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

3. Every time I ask God for something, I thank Him for something

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. ASK God to help them; intercede on their behalf and GIVE THANKS for them.” 1 Timothy 2:1

If all we had tomorrow was what we thanked God for today, how much would we have tomorrow?
