His talent, as a preacher, being rather of the reasoning and discriminating character, the almost uniform first report was, that he was not eloquent. So in the usual acceptation of the word, perhaps he was not. But if eloquence consists in the power of holding attention, and deeply impressing human minds, then was Mr. Nettleton eloquent, and at times, beyond almost any man we have ever known.
