Send us a textDerecus A. Conerly, of Mississippi went missing on June 25, 2021 after leaving home about 9:30pm. A couple of hours went pass and Derecus girlfriend called and text him but there was no response. She than called his mother (Yolanda Conutee Lewis) to see had she heard from him. Yolanda became concerned as she also reached out to him however; there was still no response. About 3 hours later his family and began to look for him as well as file a missing person report. Yolanda took to Facebook to post a plea to public and ask if anyone had seen her son to please let the family know. She was contacted via text by “Lead Investigator” (as he stated) Brian Miller from Pike County Police Department and informed her that he was over her son case and asked her for information as well as he also shared information with her. Throughout the weekend family and friends continued to search for Derecus and his mother stated that “it’s like him not to answer his phone but he would reply back via text always”. The family were able to ping his cellphone and they went to several locations to check them out. Upon arriving at a a country store they managed to talk with the owners in which they were shown the store video according to the time his phone put him there. Derecus was not seen on camera however the “Lead Investigator “ Mullins was. Sunday evening the same “Lead Investigator” Mullins called the mother and stated they have a body and can she come to the location. Upon arriving to the location which is a locked Police Shooting Range where she was informed that her son was shoot three times and burned beyond recognition(per Sheriff Department)he was found outside of the car he was driving. The family demanded answers and to find out that “Lead Investigator” Mullins is not affiliated with the department however; he is affiliated with another department(the next county)but not as an officer. The family at this point are confused, angry, upset as to what is going on. When Derecus father asked Mullins why he didn’t give the information that was given to him to the police and he replied “ he don’t know he didn't". There are so many twists and turns in this case and the family believes that there seems to be police involvement as well as cover ups…..
