When Jesus Christ was born, wise men and kings brought gifts to Him. The ruler of Rome had thousands of children slaughtered because he heard that a king had been born. 

Years later, when Jesus was interrogated by Pilate before His execution, Pilate asked Him if He was a "king." 

When Christ was hung on the cross, He was given a crown made of thorns to mock his kingly title. Little did the onlookers and mockers realize that the One they were ridiculing as king was actually the True King who would become King of Kings.
