The iconic Australian novel-turned-film On the Beach is making its way to the stage in world premiere production from two esteemed local theatre-makers, Sydney Theatre Company artistic director Kip Williams (The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Harp in the South) and playwright Tommy Murphy (ABC's Significant Others, Holding the Man). Despite it being nearly 70 years since its original publication, this story of community, dignity, and love in dark times, couldn’t feel more relevant in 2023. Tommy Murphy joins Around Town to discuss his gripping portrait of Australian society.
