All eyes on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz tonight, as he takes the spotlight as the Democrats’ nominee for Vice President. It’s Night 3 of the DNC, with former president Bill Clinton and Nancy Pelosi also slated to speak.
Tonight delegates will also hear from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and there will be a sharp focus on January 6, with several former Trump Republicans, including another one of his aides, taking the stage to denounce him and appeal to Republicans and independents to abandon Trump and vote for Kamala Harris instead. The chair of the January 6 Committee will speak, reminding voters of what happened more than 3 years ago, when Trump supporters crashed the US Capitol and interrupted the certification of the 2020 election. That’s in keeping with tonight’s theme, which is “A Fight for Our Freedoms.” “Freedom” is this campaign’s calling card, and the speakers here have been pointedly telling voters that it’s at stake if Trump is returned to office.
