Whatever the constitution ever was or stood for was destroyed in 1861. It is simply IMPOSSIBLE to hold a voluntary union together with a war. And the fact that con/cons LOVE Lincoln and Republicans claim to BE the party of Lincoln is simply beyond hilariously ironic to me.
