Once again, energy is at the forefront of a key election in California. As we've been reporting on KCBS, oil refineries in the state haven't seen profits this high in decades. Lately, Governor Gavin Newsom has been railing against these profits. He's now calling for a special session to debate a windfall tax against big oil to refund drivers for higher prices at the pump. It all comes amid challenges with the state's power grid, and just in time for a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff from PG&E this weekend in Northern California to prevent another devastating wildfire.
