The latest polls show a tightening race for the US. Senate seat previously held by Dianne Feinstein, with voters still not really focused on the campaign, and the field continues to grow. Appointed interim Senator Laphonza Butler has decided not to run for a full term, but a television news anchor from Los Angeles is now in the race. The polling shows Southern California Representatives Adam Schiff and Katie Porter still battling it out for first place, with Republican newcomer Steve Garvey, the former Los Angeles Dodger, jumping up into third place, and Oakland Congresswoman Barbara Lee behind him. The newest contender is winning just one percent right now, but she’s only been in the race for a few weeks.
That new Democratic candidate is Christina Pascucci, a 38-year-old journalist who’s been a reporter and anchor on LA TV for more than a decade. KCBS Radio news anchor Patti Reising and KCBS political reporter Doug Sovern spoke with Christina Pascucci about her career, her campaign, and why she has decided to run for Senate as a political newcomer.
