This week saw a resurgence from the NY hockey teams. The Rangers went 3-1 after games against Florida, Tampa Bay and Edmonton, but did they answer their critics about whether or not they are an elite team. Across the state at Belmont, the Islanders started showing their past form as they beat Edmonton in OT, finishing 4-2-4 in December. However the team was blindsided when the Canadian government banned travel for US teams to Canada. So with their Western Canada trip cancelled, the Islanders do not have a game for ten days and still trail Boston by 8 points for the final playoff spot.
