In January 2016, Florencia visited Lake Atitlan, Guatemala to study metaphysical practices. There, she was introduced to cacao during a ceremony led by a Mayan day-keeper, a guardian of Mayan wisdom. Florencia had a powerful and life-changing moment. She knew that she was the bridge between the Mayan elders and modern New Yorkers; and eventually the world.    With the guidance of Nana Marina Cruz, a Mayan wisdom keeper from the T'zutujil community in Guatemala, Florencia began her journey with cacao.    Florencia and her brother, Frederico, launched Cacao Laboratory with the intentions of community, connection, sustaining Mother Earth, and giving back to the farmers in South America.   In This Episode We Talk About:
  • The course of events that led Florencia to Guatemala and finding the medicine of cacao.
  • How she started offering cacao circles in NYC.
  • How cacao was a medicine that helped to heal her relationship with her brother, her co-founder, and family.
  • What ceremony means to Florencia and why she wants you to have a ceremony in every moment of each day.
  • The physical and spiritual benefits of ceremonial cacao.
  • How she was able to hold space for over 40+ people every day during shelter-in-place.
