Joining us today is TJ Nelligan, author of the newly-released book, Live Like Sean.

TJ is an entrepreneur, advocate, and former Chairman & CEO of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games. The sudden passing of his son, Sean, stirred TJ to write a loving tribute that is poignantly captured via a first-person perspective of seeing the world through the eyes of his special-needs son.

As you will hear TJ express, Sean taught the world more than it could ever teach him. Listen in to hear more about what Sean’s life can teach us all.

Show Highlights:

  • TJ shares his personal story of learning that Sean had special needs.
  • The advocacy lessons that TJ learned early on.
  • Inclusion isn’t just about education while attending school. When special-needs kids graduate from high school, inclusion needs to continue.
  • TJ relates some of Sean’s unique characteristics.
  • The way that Sean lived in the moment is worthy of our own self-reflection.
  • Suggestions from TJ on how parents can learn to accept that their child has struggles, and how they might advocate.
  • Special-needs kids have a way of inspiring and positively impacting the lives of so many of those around them!
