This week we are talking about technology in the classroom!
I think at least one time or another, everybody has asked themselves "how does technology affect learning?" Like, how does it REALLY affect learning? There are obviously up sides and down sides, but what rules?
Of course many people will find reasons why laptops are good for students, and why you should be able to use cell phones in class. If you look deep enough, you can find the benefits of technology in the classroom, and of course the huge disadvantages as well.
If you ever decide to look up how to take notes better, or how to retain more information, there is a good chance that you'll find some answers telling you to use these tools (computers and cell phones) to your advantage... and we don't entirely disagree.
At the end of the day though, we are more interested in figuring out how to get students to stop using their cell phones in class, and determining how cell phones affect academic performance.
So we decided to put in our own two cents on the relationship between students and technology. Mind you that both of us on this show are really not the type to have used our phones or computers in class. (Well, unless you're Gerard in college... in which case you really desperately needed to use a computer.)
We will also try to fester up an answer to what can actually be done moving forward. Should schools ban cell phones and/or laptops?
If you have any questions or input, be sure to leave it in the comments right down below, and we will be sure to stay on top of that comment section!!!
