Every time I speak with today’s guest the world feels a little bit better. Keyon Harrold (@keyonharrold) is a Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter, immortalized by his musical portrayal of Miles Davis in Don Cheadle’s Miles Ahead. He has also recorded with the likes of Jay Z, Beyoncé, Gregory Porter and Common.
Today on the show, Keyon talks about his reality of being a black man and father during these important but trying times. He also tells us what to expect next from the music world and why performing live is more like sex than anything else. He even blesses us with some live music he recorded right outside The John Roa Show’s studio in Soho, Manhattan.
Janelle Draper (@janellejokes) joins to shoot the sh*t with John. They talk about his fears of publishing his upcoming memoir and she even gets him to reveal his celebrity crush. Erin, if you’re listening, he’s @johnroa.
