On Wednesday, Governor Roy Cooper proposed $3.9 billion in disaster relief from the state as a response to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. The Governor also estimated the damage in Western North Carolina at around $53 billion and said the proposal yesterday would be used for costs that would not be covered by the federal government.
