new mint is out and it rarely gets love from any of the Linix podcasts, it would be great to get you guys to live in it for a week, or maybe just make Wess do it. 😉

Honestly, if you find a used laptop with at least 8gb of RAM, you’d be able to do a decent amount of “regular computer” stuff, and even some light gaming, I’ve been playing Skyrim on a laptop I bought for $200 (but swapped out the SSD for another $80) at work between calls just fine. As long as you don’t expect a powerhouse, you’d be surprised at how much you can get done at that price range!

Comin in hawt with the bewst! Back in the day, when wifi didnt work, i used Kubuntu and had to go right back to windows. Then i tried again here in the last three years and its been a dream. Sometimes, linux is hard to love, but, that tough love forces you to learn new skills and you appreciate computing that much more.

For used, buy local if you can! I’m lucky to have a freegeek in my area and they have great deals for Linux desktops https://www.freegeektwincities.org/computers
