Although I agree this requirement shouldn't exist, I don't find this rationale convincing—validation could be performed on the host side (as Adam mentioned) and the player side. [2/6]

A much better reason, in my mind, is the same as why companies don't limit number of shares to a 100—it would limit the maximum number of shareholders and the fractions they can own. [3/6]

Finally, as a math teacher, I feel the most intuitive way of explaining splits to newcomers is by thinking of them as ratios, a concept familiar to most as it is found in many recipes! [5/6]

Dave seemed to suggest that we don't require splits to add up to a 100 because it is easy to make mistakes and produce a different total amount. [1/6]

And, due to precision issues, we should always prefer integers to decimal numbers in financial software (that's why Stripe API uses cents instead of dollars, for example). [4/6]

E.g., If Alice's, Bob's, and Charlie's splits are 4, 2, and 3, respectively, they will share the incoming sats in the ratios 4 to 2 to 3. [6/6]

I have a question about the splits...I was happily streaming 17sat/min I think calculate the first split % goto the highest % and then calculating down. streaming less than 1 sat/min is not a thing, so I see on a show 22sat/min pop up... don't mind the small difference, Aldo I think when you have 100 splits in an episode I would stream +/- 100sat/min. I only use fountain at the moment, maybe other apps handle this differently. Is this how it was intended??? For the user its unexpected.
